Ban the Slaughter and Consumption of White Pigeons: Protect the Symbol of Peace in India

Ban the Slaughter and Consumption of White Pigeons: Protect the Symbol of Peace in India
The Issue
To,
The Honorable Prime Minister Narendrabhai Damodardas Modi,
Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change,
Government of India.
Subject: Request to Ban the Slaughter and Consumption of White Pigeons in India
Respected Sir/Madam,
White pigeons have been universally recognized as symbols of peace, hope, and harmony for centuries. In India, they play a significant role in cultural and religious traditions, often being released during ceremonies and events to symbolize the aspiration for peace. However, the practice of slaughtering and consuming white pigeons contradicts these values and threatens their existence as a cherished emblem of non-violence.
As a nation rooted in the principle of ahimsa (non-violence) and a global advocate for harmony, India should take a strong stand to protect white pigeons from violence and exploitation. Allowing the consumption of white pigeon meat tarnishes the symbolic significance they hold and undermines the cultural and ethical values of our society.
We, the undersigned, urge the Government of India to take the following actions:
1- Prohibit the slaughter and sale of white pigeons for meat or any other purpose by amending existing wildlife protection and animal welfare laws.
2- Promote awareness about the symbolic and cultural significance of white pigeons to discourage their consumption.\
3- Enforce strict penalties for individuals and establishments involved in harming white pigeons.
By implementing these measures, India will reaffirm its commitment to peace, compassion, and the preservation of cultural heritage. This ban will resonate globally, showcasing our leadership in protecting symbols of harmony and life.
We sincerely hope that our request will be considered and appropriate action will be taken to honor the values that white pigeons represent.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours sincerely,
[Pavan Prakash]
