We, the undersigned, urge the State of Mississippi to take immediate action toprohibit the sale and distribution of synthetic marijuana without a valid medical prescription.
Synthetic marijuana products are highly dangerous chemical substances that can cause life-threatening reactions — including psychosis, heart attacks, seizures, and even death. Despite their risks, these products are still being sold in convenience stores and gas stations across our state, often misleadingly marketed as safe or legal alternatives to cannabis.
These substances pose a serious public health threat, especially to teenagers and young adults. They destroy families, strain emergency services, and endanger communities.
We call on Mississippi leaders to:
Ban the sale and distribution of synthetic marijuana without a prescription.
Hold accountable any retailers or manufacturers who continue to sell these harmful products.
Fund public awareness campaigns about the dangers of synthetic marijuana.
Support prevention and treatment programs for addiction and mental health impacts caused by synthetic drug use.
