Ban the sale of fireworks in New Zealand.
The issue
We want the House of Representatives to urge the New Zealand Government to make a change to clause 6 of the Hazardous Substances (fireworks) Regulation 2001 [https://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2001/0121/latest/DLM42495.html to stop the sale of fireworks for private use.
The sale of fireworks in New Zealand for private use is becoming an issue. In New Zealand, fireworks can be let off at ones leisure which is a worry for those concerned about their animal's well-being as fireworks can be let off at random without warning. There are enough public displays to compensate for the loss of private use.
A national ban of the sale and private use of fireworks in New Zealand would be beneficial for animals and would not negatively effect society.
