As a concerned parent, I am deeply troubled by the easy access my son and other children have to energy drinks. These beverages can be dangerous, posing significant threats to heart health and potentially leading to other medical complications. The unrestricted availability of these products is alarming, particularly when considering their potential impact on our children's health.

Energy drinks are known for their high caffeine content which can lead to increased heart rate and blood pressure, disrupt sleep patterns, and even cause dehydration or digestive problems. According to a study published in the Journal of American Heart Association in 2019, consuming just one energy drink could increase heart disease risk factors in young adults.

By implementing an age restriction on these products similar to those placed on alcohol and tobacco sales, we can help protect our youth from unnecessary health risks associated with energy drink consumption. This is not about limiting freedom of choice but rather about ensuring the safety and well-being of our children.
