Ban the Sale of Animals at Heartland Pets

Ban the Sale of Animals at Heartland Pets
The Issue
From a deeply personal standpoint, I cannot stand by any longer. The animals at our local mall-- adorable puppies and more-- do not get to see the light of the sun. They don’t have the chance to feel the grass beneath their paws. Their socialization skills are stunted, having been snatched away from mothers and littermates at an early age. In Heartland Pets scenario, the animals are bred in puppy mills, which are known for their depressing conditions and neglectful care.
Many may not realize it, but this is a harsh reality for many animals sold at pet stores. According to the Humane Society of the United States, nearly 99% of puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills and sadly, these commercial breeding facilities prioritize profit over the wellbeing of animals. Furthermore, studies have shown that animals from such backgrounds are more prone to behavioral and health problems (The Humane Society of the United States).
This practice is inhumane and needs to be stopped. It's not about diminishing the joy of pet ownership, but rather, promoting ethical and responsible practices that are more beneficial to the animals involved. There are other humane ways to get a pet into your life; like an adoption from a local shelter, which ensure that you are supporting organizations that provide good care to animals.
By signing this petition, you are standing with us in our fight against the sale of animals in malls. And to take a stand against puppy mills. Help PA achieve a vision where no pets are sold in retail stores. ESPECIALLY MALLS
Current Bills trying to be passed in PA:
“House Bill 2139, which would prohibit live pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania. The bill now goes to the full House for consideration. The pigeon events involve people shooting the birds at close range; the pigeons involved have typically been raised in captivity specifically for these contests.”
“House Bill 846, known as Victoria’s Law, which would ban pet stores from selling dogs, cats and rabbits from facilities known as pet mills.”
“House Bill 508 and Senate Bill 1178, would prohibit cat declawing”
“House Bills 1318, 1319, and 1320 and Senate Bills 701, 702 and 703.
The legislation would restrict the breeding of dogs for research and increase investments in nonanimal research methods.”
