The Issue
I am writing this petition driven by my deep concern regarding the sale and use of fireworks in Nepal, which has become a source of distress for many in our society. Fireworks, while often used to enhance celebrations, have a darker side that many choose to overlook. These explosive devices are more than just a momentary burst of colour in the sky.
Fireworks are known to cause acute distress among animals. Our beloved pets and countless stray animals experience intense fear and anxiety due to the loud explosions. This can lead to injuries as animals try to escape the noise, sometimes resulting in fatal accidents. It's heart-wrenching to witness the suffering of these innocent creatures.
Moreover, fireworks pose a threat to vulnerable people, including the elderly and those with health conditions. The loud noises can exacerbate existing health issues, cause panic, and disrupt normal living conditions. Many individuals, particularly the elderly, experience heightened stress and can suffer severe health consequences as a result of the noise pollution.
The environmental impact of fireworks cannot be ignored. The pollutants released during fireworks displays contribute significantly to air pollution, releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. This not only degrades air quality but also has long-term implications on climate change and the health of our planet.
In light of these issues, I urge the government of Nepal to consider the implementation of a complete ban on the sale and use of fireworks. We must seek alternatives to celebrate our festivals that do not cause harm to our environment and those who share it with us.
I propose that we explore safer, environmentally-friendly celebration options such as light shows or drone displays. These alternatives offer a spectacle without the negative consequences associated with fireworks. Local communities can be encouraged to adopt these safer practices, ensuring celebrations remain joyous yet considerate of all living beings and our environment.
Please join me in this cause by signing this petition. Your support can make a difference for vulnerable animals, people, and our environment. Together, let us work towards a future where our celebrations spread happiness without harm. Sign now to voice your stand against the sale and use of fireworks in Nepal.
