As an average person, I, like many others, have been priced out from seeing or experiencing my favourite events on multiple occasions. This heart-wrenching situation is the result of a practice where tickets for shows, concerts or sports events are bought in bulk by resellers using internet bots, and consequently resold on secondary outlets like Viagogo or StubHub at exorbitantly high prices.

The greed and opportunism displayed in this practice are not only affecting me but thousands of people who look forward to experiencing joy and entertainment. The average fan is left feeling marginalized and disappointed, as they are often unable to afford the inflated ticket prices. More importantly, this practice also hurts the industry. Artists and sports teams rely on their fanbase to have fair and affordable access to their events, so they may share their talent and passion with them. These hardworking and talented individuals end up performing to half-empty venues, while their true fans are shut out due to the inflated prices.

This petition calls upon the government and regulatory bodies to put an end to this exploitative practice. We urge them to deem the resale of tickets at inflated prices illegal, preserving the right of every fan to enjoy their favourite events at a fair price.
