Ban the misuse of fireworks

Ban the misuse of fireworks
The Issue
In 2020, at the beginning of lockdown, I found a dog in a field. I took her home with me and posted her on Facebook to find the owners. The next day they reached out and I took her back. Two days later they message me to say that she had ran away again and to keep an eye out for her. They then messaged an hour later stating that they couldn’t look after her anymore, and so I took her In. Since that day she has been my best friend and rock. However, it is obvious that she has experienced abuse in her life as she is scared of everything and very anxious. Anytime she does something ‘wrong’ she cowers away and starts shaking even though we have had her for 4 and a half years now and have showed her nothing but love. This shows the mental impact that stressful situations can have on animals. When there are fireworks, she starts panting, shaking, pacing and can’t control it. She will refuse to eat or drink, and will not listen to anybody as she is so petrified. The first year we got her, she escaped on bonfire night and was found by a stranger under a car. She was being carried down the street when we found her. After getting her back, we realised she was so terrified to the point that she hid under a car and cut up all of her paw pads. It was a blood bath and so scary. I want to start this petition, not only for my own fur baby, but for any other fur babies/wild animals out there that may be seriously affected by these times. I believe that fireworks should legally only be allowed to be set off on bonfire night and New Year’s Eve by licensed event venues. They should be illegal to be set off any other day of the year. This will have a positive impact by protecting wildlife and pets who may be extremely negatively affected around these times. Not only will it help animals, it will help to reduce violence amongst the community involving fireworks. It is so important that action is taken immediately. PROTECT OUR ANIMALS!
