Ban the Manufacturing of New Plastics for a Healthier Future

The Issue

For myself, and countless others, the issue of plastic pollution carries a personal weight. It haunts us to know that plastic is already in the air we breathe, the water we drink, in the food we eat and in each organism. We live in a world where it's impossible to escape its far-reaching consequences. We need to stop adding to this problem immediately.

Plastics are not just a source of visual pollution. They are a direct threat to the health of not just humanity, but entire ecosystems. As reported by The Guardian, we are at risk of ingesting approximately 5 grams of plastic per week, roughly the weight of a credit card (The Guardian, 2019). These plastics can potentially contain harmful substances capable of causing chronic illnesses.

The manufacturing of new plastics only feeds into this vicious cycle. Our planet is already overwhelmed as less than 9% of all plastic waste produced has been recycled (National Geographic, 2018). We need to reimagine and redesign our material world to exclude these harmful, everlasting substances.

It's time for us to take action. By banning the manufacturing of new plastics, we can curb this catastrophic environmental crisis and create a world where we won't suffer the consequences of plastic pollution. Sign the petition so we can halt the production of new plastics and focus on eco-friendly alternatives.
