Hi All

According to the SIPRI data, Australia ranked eighth globally in arms imports from 2019 to 2023, with a significant portion (80%) originating from the United States. The total value of these imports exceeded $20 billion. Looking ahead, the situation appears to worsen, as the United States appears to be confident in its position, and would not consider that this future expenditure of $360 billion could be at risk..

While I do not advocate for reciprocal tariffs, implementing such a measure could lead to a loss of memory regarding the initiator of the trade dispute, similar to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

However, it is imperative that appropriate actions be taken to diversify economic purchases from other countries. The United States’ self-destructive policies could serve as a catalyst for positive change within the country.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the adversary may not disappear; they are likely to be replaced by another equally problematic individual, potentially prolonging this situation for an extended period.

Relying solely on the hope that the conflict will resolve within three years constitutes a reckless risk assessment. A proactive approach is necessary to ensure that actions taken are not perceived as retaliatory.

By modifying the bidding process to include three suppliers and mandating the involvement of at least two countries, a non-US selection can be made based on the most favourable terms and price.

Or you could simply say that the tariffs impact Australia in such a way that we can no longer afford the extravagant notion of AUKUS nuclear submarines.

There is no argument against you made me broke.
