Ban shark nets from Australia

Ban shark nets from Australia
The issue
Hi everybody,
My name is Zoe and I'm 13, I care deeply about preserving the environment and the ocean. and shark nets are doing the exact opposite.
If you don’t know what shark nets are, they’re large mesh barriers placed near popular beaches in Australia, intended to reduce shark encounters. But they are flawed in many ways.
They don't form a full protection, since animals can go around, under and over, so they don't even do what their purpose is. Instead, they trap and kill countless marine animals including dolphins, turtles, rays, and endangered species. These nets are outdated, ineffective, and incredibly harmful to our oceans.
There are so many better, safer alternatives we can use, like drone surveillance, shark tagging, and eco-friendly deterrents, that protect both swimmers and marine life.
Sign this petition to help preserve the delicate marine ecosystems and advocate for a safer and more sustainable approach to beach safety in Australia.
One signature can save hundreds of lives!
I don't need money donations because they don't go directly to this cause, your signature is worth much more!
