Ban Sexual Education and Gay Porn Access in Toronto

The Issue

Growing up in Toronto, I was exposed to topics I wasn't ready to understand, topics that later became a source of distress. Sexual education, as it's currently administered in Toronto schools, coupled with unrestricted access to explicit content like gay porn, has fundamentally influenced and altered the outlooks of innumerable children.

Many children are introduced to these subjects at a tender age, often without parental consent or adequate context. The curriculum in Toronto schools needs re-evaluation. There's an overwhelming influence of sexual content in various forms of media, which ultimately desensitize children and affect their innocence. This inundation with mature content under the guise of education or exploration is unacceptable.

Statistics reveal the delicate nature of children's mental health today. According to a 2019 study by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, exposure to sexualized content at a young age significantly impacts developmental processes, leading to potential mental distress, confusion, and identity issues. Furthermore, recent statistics reveal that 25% of students reported feeling pressured by the current sexual education curriculum.

It's crucial that we take action to protect children from premature exposure through an overhaul of the school syllabus, restricting access to explicit content in public libraries and creating more secure online safeguarding for children. Parents, teachers, and policymakers must come together to draw boundaries that safeguard our children's mental health and well-being.

Toronto needs to take immediate action against what is being wrongly served in the name of education and liberation. Sign this petition to urge the authorities to revise the sexual education curriculum, impose stricter access controls on explicit content, and ultimately protect our youth’s innocence and mental health. Let’s ensure that Toronto schools and public resources reflect the values that prioritize children's safety and integrity. Together, we can make a difference.
