For every student, school should be a place of engaging learning experiences, stimulating both the mind and the imagination. However, at Briscoe Middle School, our experience with the teaching material Senor Wooly has been everything but engaging. It is not just an isolated sentiment but a shared concern among many of us who find the content boring and unnecessarily lengthy.

Senor Wooly, an educational tool for teaching Spanish, might have been designed to capture students' attention through humorous and story-driven songs and videos, but in reality, it fails to resonate with what truly interests us as learners. The lengthiness of the videos, accompanied by uninspired content, has made many classroom hours feel like a drag rather than an opportunity to grow and learn.

According to various educational studies, student engagement is directly linked to academic success and the development of a love for learning. Such tools that lack the ability to engage and inspire can have detrimental effects not just on attitudes toward learning a new language, but also on the overall educational experience.

We believe that Spanish language education at Briscoe Middle School deserves a fresh approach that better aligns with modern educational standards and meets the diverse interests of students. Innovative and interactive educational tools such as Duolingo or Babbel, known for their engaging interfaces and effectiveness, should be considered as alternatives. These platforms utilize interactive exercises, diverse real-life dialogues, and timely feedback that keeps the learning process dynamic and enjoyable.
