Singapore, as a multicultural and multiracial society, prides itself on its unity despite its diverse ethnic makeup. Allowing performances that have the potential to incite racial tensions jeopardizes the social cohesion that we've worked so hard to build.

Adding insult to injury, Obeid hasn't been upfront about his document submission process, whereby he was reportedly late in submitting his application for the show in Singapore. Disturbingly, he has refused to acknowledge this mistake publicly, which raises serious concerns about his professionalism and respect for Singapore's laws and standards.

Allowing Sammy Obeid to perform could also tarnish Singapore's international reputation as a country that allows divisive figures to exploit its open and progressive environment. Considering the global nature of these controversies, it is crucial that we protect Singapore's image and prevent individuals who aim to use our nation for notoriety and possible content in their shows.
