The Issue

Advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics have introduced increasingly lifelike machines designed to simulate human companionship and intimate relationships. While these technologies demonstrate remarkable engineering capabilities, their commercialization raises important ethical and social concerns.

Companies developing realistic humanoid robots are exploring ways to combine artificial intelligence, humanlike appearances, and interactive personalities. These developments raise questions about the boundaries between technological innovation, human relationships, and the commercialization of artificial intimacy.

Although supporters may view these products as expressions of personal freedom and technological progress, I believe their potential social consequences deserve serious consideration.

Of particular concern is the development of humanoid machines specifically intended to imitate intimate human interactions. Such products raise questions about objectification, emotional dependency, and the ethical responsibilities of manufacturers.

Research into the long-term psychological and societal effects of these technologies remains limited. However, these uncertainties should not prevent lawmakers from examining whether their commercial distribution is appropriate.

This petition calls upon the United States Congress to establish a nationwide prohibition on AI-powered humanoid robots specifically designed for adult intimacy.

I am requesting federal legislation that would:

Prohibit the commercial manufacture of AI-powered humanoid robots designed primarily for intimate adult interactions.
Ban the importation and commercial distribution of these machines throughout the United States.
Prohibit their sale through physical retailers and online marketplaces.
Establish clear definitions distinguishing these products from conventional dolls, general-purpose robots, medical devices, and non-intimate companion technologies.
Introduce appropriate enforcement measures for manufacturers, importers, and commercial distributors.
This proposal is not intended to restrict artificial intelligence research, general-purpose robotics, or ordinary companion technologies. Nor does it seek to prohibit conventional dolls. Its focus is specifically on commercially produced humanoid robots combining artificial intelligence with physical designs intended for adult intimacy.

I recognize that individuals may disagree about whether these technologies should be regulated or prohibited. Questions of personal autonomy, technological freedom, and commercial responsibility deserve consideration in any legislative discussion.

Nevertheless, I believe the commercialization of artificial intimacy through lifelike AI-powered humanoid machines presents ethical concerns significant enough to warrant federal action.

I urge Congress to consider legislation banning the commercial manufacture, importation, distribution, and sale of realistic AI intimacy robots throughout the United States.

Technological innovation should encourage meaningful progress while remaining subject to public scrutiny and responsible legal boundaries.
