Ban Real Fur Sales on eBay

The Issue

If you were not born with fur, it is not meant for you.

The fur trade is a $40 billion industry, and it is entirely based on animal cruelty. These animals are farmed in tiny cages, killed in horrifying ways, and skinned, sometimes alive, for their fur.

Over the years, we have seen countless undercover videos bring the abuse to light.  If you have had the stomach to view these horrendous videos, you've been witness to the horrifying torture and maltreatment of rabbits, foxes, and other animals. All of this so someone can don their fur as a status symbol.

As of now, eBay bans the sales of ivory products due to the cruelty inherent in the ivory trade. But you can still go to the website and find a racoon coat or a fox fur shawl. Whether it's “vintage” or brand new, its provenance is the same. At some point, some animal was slaughtered for its pelt, only for the rest of its body to be tossed aside. The fur industry is a cruel and wasteful business, and eBay should take a stand against it just like it has against the ivory trade.

Join me in asking eBay to acknowledge the cruelty to animals farmed for their fur, and ban the sales of these products on their website.
