Eagle Point, Oregon is a community that I call home. Many of my friends have children who attend school here, and the values we hold are reflected in our community. However, recent activities within the Eagle Point School District have raised significant concerns among parents and residents alike.

A particular point of contention has been the operation of a club known as the Gay/Straight Alliance by one of the teachers. While the namesake suggests inclusivity, it's perceived by many as an avenue through which inappropriate themes of sexuality and grooming are being introduced to our children. Public schools are places for education, not venues for sexual content.

Our concerns extend beyond just this club. There is a rising trend of political ideologies being introduced into our schools. The presence of pride flags and rhetoric is seen as part of a broader agenda to infuse political narratives into the minds of our young ones. This has no place in the curriculum or environment of a school where children should be free to develop their own thoughts and beliefs without undue influence.

We believe in protecting the sanctity of educational spaces. It is imperative that we maintain schools as zones free from political and social ideologies, where pure education is the core purpose.

We urge the Eagle Point School District to adhere strictly to this ideal by banning the display of all pride flags and rhetoric within the schools. Our aim is not to discriminate against any individual or group, but to ensure that our schools remain a neutral ground dedicated solely to educational pursuits.
