The Issue
BAN PORNOGRAPHY ON X
Petition X Corporation to Prohibit Pornographic Content Across Its Platform
To: X Corporation, Executive Leadership and Trust & Safety Department
We are calling on X Corporation to adopt a platform-wide prohibition on pornographic content.
X is a global social media platform used by millions of people for communication, news, entertainment, education, professional networking, and public discussion.
Yet X's current policies permit consensually produced pornography and sexually explicit material to be distributed on the platform, provided certain labeling and visibility requirements are met.
We believe it is time to reconsider that approach.
A content warning does not eliminate pornography. Age restrictions do not change the nature of the material being distributed. And requiring users to avoid unwanted content places the burden on the audience rather than establishing a clear platform standard.
WHAT WE ARE DEMANDING
We call on X Corporation to:
1. Prohibit all pornographic photographs, videos, GIFs, animations, and sexually explicit AI-generated imagery.
2. Prohibit the publication, distribution, reposting, promotion, and embedding of pornographic material.
3. Prohibit accounts primarily dedicated to distributing pornography.
4. Remove pornographic material from public feeds, replies, communities, search results, and platform recommendations.
5. Establish consistent moderation, reporting, and enforcement procedures.
6. Apply the prohibition regardless of whether the material is professionally produced, independently produced, or created using artificial intelligence.
WHAT SHOULD REMAIN PERMITTED
This petition does not seek to prohibit legitimate medical information, sexual-health education, non-pornographic artistic expression, or ordinary discussions about human sexuality.
It is not an attack on consenting adults, sexual orientation, or personal identity.
The distinction is between discussing sexuality and operating a platform that distributes pornography.
WHY THIS MATTERS
People should be able to participate in public digital spaces without having pornography treated as an ordinary component of their social media experience.
A social media platform can support freedom of expression while establishing boundaries around the material it chooses to host and distribute.
We believe X can provide an environment centered on communication, creativity, information, and community without permitting pornography.
OUR REQUEST
We respectfully ask X Corporation to publicly review its Adult Content Policy, announce a plan to prohibit pornography, and establish a reasonable implementation timeline.
We are asking for a clear policy change, not another content warning.
Pornography does not need to be a feature of social media.
If you support this proposed change, sign and share this petition.
SIGN THE PETITION. CALL ON X TO CHANGE ITS POLICY.
