Ban Plastic Bags in Worcester County

Ban Plastic Bags in Worcester County
The Issue
Single use plastic bags are completely impractical. Not only are they unable to biodegrade (therefore destroying the environment and oceans) but plastic bags are incredibly inefficient. It is estimated that the United States uses around 30 BILLION plastic bags each year and 12 million barrels of oil to make these unsustainable plastics.
Plastic is deadly not only to sea turtles and plants, but to humans as well. The chemical BPA found in most plastic can be credited with heightening the probability of cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and even autism.
Investing in reusable grocery bags or recycled paper bags provides a greener and more economically sustainable future for ourselves and those who come after. Take a stand to untangle our lives from the disgusting dependence on a substance that does more harm than good.
