Ban Personal Recordings/Photography/Streaming at Fitness Facilities

The Issue

It is no secret that self awareness, common sense, and responsibility have been declining in several aspects of society. It is also no secret that an ugly side effect of this epidemic is rearing its head in the form of videos and photos being posted online of (mostly unaware) perfect strangers seeking self-improvement at gyms across the country by other strangers seeking attention or promotion. Whether the context is innocent, or in many cases of late, vicious, it is becoming more glaringly apparent that it is inappropriate to expose individuals to an online audience when respect to privacy is expected by gym-goers and members. Here are several examples of this in practice:

Therefore, those of us signing this petition ask for an active, permanent ban on any photography/recording with any related devices in fitness facilities or clubs in the United States of America. With this ban, we hope that mutual respect and diginity will be restored in a place where people should never worry about a camera or comments, but can focus more on the intimate process of gaining strength and self-confidence.
