Ban loud fireworks to protect our pets and environment and those with ptsd
The Issue
Last year, my beloved dog died, I believe due to the stress of loud fireworks. My story is not unique; countless pets and wildlife are adversely affected by these intense sounds.
Fireworks have long been a way to celebrate events, but the time has come to reconsider how we do so without causing harm. The deafening noises not only induce fear and anxiety in animals but also pose risks to humans—particularly veterans with PTSD, the elderly, and children. Moreover, fireworks create air and noise pollution, impacting both our physical health and the environment.
The solution is simple: we need to transition to using silent fireworks for all public celebrations. Silent fireworks provide the beautiful visual spectacle that we have come to associate with celebrations, without the harmful effects. Cities like Collecchio in Italy have already adopted laws to ensure that all fireworks are silent, successfully mitigating the negative impact traditionally associated with fireworks.
If change is possible there, why not here? By choosing silent fireworks, we can respect and protect our community's wellbeing, the environment, and our beloved pets. It is a responsible and compassionate choice that benefits everyone.
Join me in urging our local governments to ban the use of loud fireworks and legislate for silent ones. Together, we can enjoy celebrations with beautiful, awe-inspiring fireworks while safeguarding the health of our community and the environment. Please sign this petition and help us create lasting change for the better.
