This issue is not minor by any means. Scientific studies indicate that noises over 85 decibels can cause immediate hearing loss in both humans and animals. Most DJ setups at local festivals reach sound levels upward of 100 decibels, well above the safety threshold. This relentless noise pollution compels wildlife to stray from their habitats, leading to disorientation and, in some cases, even death. Not only does it jeopardize the safety of animals, but it also raises significant concerns for young children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions.
In cities and towns across India where Utsav celebrations are a norm, collective measures must be taken to ensure that our traditions do not come at the expense of those who cannot voice their suffering.
