This petition is directed to the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and to his cabinet. Climate change is a threat to all humanity, and to reach our Paris Agreement target of 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, WE, the students at John Abbott College, call upon the federal government and the prime minister to limit or eliminate federal government lobbying entirely by petroleum companies or companies dealing in fossil fuels. The lobbying from these companies empowers them in the eyes of the government, offering them the privilege to continue their environmentally destructive operations.
