I’m starting this movement because there are many and I mean many people who were impacted financially from covid and now landlords and property management companies are making it almost nearly impossible for hardworking people to even find housing you have the problems of 2x-3x the rent amounts and if someone can afford that they would buy a home than you have the other issue of 600-700 credit score or they won’t rent to you. This recently has happened to my family after we have lost our home yo a fire leaving us homeless in a car with 5 children. We owned businesses and a home and nobody will rent to us because of our credit score. Just because you have a bad credit score that doesn’t make you a bigger risk than someone else that has a higher credit score financial ruin can happen overnight to even millionaires with the best credit score. We only have 3 items on our credit report in collections under 1k and are being denied for housing. I want to take this to the state level. As a Washington state resident my whole entire life and as a upholding citizen with many college degrees and never in trouble with the law and as a mom of kids I want a future for my children and I believe good people exist that will pay their rent over paying off a credit card bill yo make sure their family has a roof over their heads please help me with this movement by implementing a new law into Washington state that I can take to our governor and tell him this needs to stop and that landlords and property management companies can do criminal background checks by all means but this law needs to be on a case by case basis on credit but not discriminate some people might be paying down their bills and the credit reporting agencies don’t report that bills have been paid so people get denied. This is not fair this is becoming a problem for housing and the upstick in homelessness and we as a community as a state and people need to stop people before we are all homeless. My daughter in law lived in a house for 10 years never late on rent and they raised the criteria to make 3x the amount of rent she has 3 kids and her and her husband work 2 jobs and they couldn’t make it and they were forced to move. Let’s stop this now and end this so we can end homelessness. 
my husband is a army veteran and we are having a difficult time finding a home with even a hud/Vash voucher and financial backing from many organizations and he keeps getting denied and is clean with criminal background and a poor credit rating from saving his kids from the house fire. Let’s stop this now please sign my petition.
