The Issue

Growing up in Ohio, I've always valued knowing exactly what's on my plate. This is deeply personal because both myself and my community have a fundamental right to transparent and honest food choices. The recent surge in lab-grown meat products has brought confusion and concern. These items are often marketed ambiguously, leaving many consumers—my family included—at risk of inadvertently consuming something they were unaware of, or unsure about.

Lab-grown meat, also known as cultivated meat, is engineered in laboratories. While it promises certain environmental and ethical benefits, its long-term health impacts are still under investigation. Consumers are often not informed about these risks. According to recent studies, 60% of people feel misled by the marketing of such products, mistaking them for traditionally sourced meat.

Moreover, enforcing a ban on lab-grown meat within Ohio would assure all residents that when they purchase and consume food, they are confident in what they are eating. Such a ban would compel companies to accurately label their products and to educate the public more transparently.

This action is vital not only for clarity but also for consumer protection. We deserve the right to make informed choices about what enters our bodies and feeds our families. Let's ensure the integrity of our local food supply and safeguard the health of all Ohioans.

Join me in calling for the Ohio Legislature to pass the Ohio Cultivated Meat Prohibition Act, banning the sale of lab-grown meat in our state. Sign this petition and help protect our right to clear, trustworthy food choices.
