My dad fell victim to the deceptive allure of Kratom. To all the positive good factors push out to the public! He had gotten where he took it everyday and a lot of it! 
I have watched painfully as my husband has been facing this same battle, which is the “becoming addicted” to the “all natural” Kratom!  
Thankfully after 2 years of this changing the person he was, he agreed to go detox.  His main defense on taking this product was it’s legal. It’s all natural and it’s literally sold in the gas stations. He would say to me I can’t believe I’m fixing to lose my marriage over something sold in the gas station.
I also want to mention that not only have a dealt with watching people in my personal life fight this battle I have worked at a gas station for about six years and I know several people that come in on the daily sometimes multiple times a day to get Kratom products, and several of them have said to me, I wish I would’ve never started taking this stuff! 
Kratom is marketed as a "miraculous" herbal remedy, glossing over its darker, more dangerous side. 
Many gas stations and smoke shops sell these products indiscriminately over-the-counter, making them easily accessible to vulnerable individuals. 
According to the American Kratom Association, millions of Americans use kratom, often believing it to be a safe substance. However, its addictive nature has been compared to opioids – the very class of drugs the U.S. is desperately trying to control. 
While Kratom's legality varies by state, there is a serious gap in regulation at the federal level. The FDA, which is tasked with ensuring the safety of food and drugs in the U.S., has not certified the safety nor the contents of many readily available Kratom products. Numerous reports from the FDA and CDC have linked Kratom to adverse health effects, and there have been cases of contamination with dangerous substances.
Therefore, our immediate call to action is to remove Kratom products from gas stations where they are readily available to anyone, including minors. We urge policymakers to reclassify Kratom as a controlled substance, ensuring that it is sold only within tightly regulated environments.
