Ban kratom

Ban kratom
The Issue
My heartfelt personal experience is one with a family member entangled in the grip of kratom addiction. A close relative of mine fell into a harrowing cycle of dependence on this drug, not once, but repeatedly overdosing and putting their health in great peril. This isn't an isolated battle, but also a financially draining struggle that has affected us deeply.
Let me anchor this plea with stark reality: kratom is a drug that's readily available at many convenience venues, often housed beside innocuous products. But its benign presentation hides a more sinister truth. The issue at hand is that kratom, while legal, is an addictive substance that resembles opioids. It triggers withdrawal symptoms, sometimes severe, and can lead to overdosage.
According to a review published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, kratom use has been linked with 44 deaths between 2011-2017. This clearly highlights the dangers of unrestricted kratom sales. Another alarming fact is that the Poison Control Centers in the U.S. received about 1,800 reports involving use of kratom from 2011–2017, including reports of death, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
This challenge needs collective action. We appeal for your backing in pushing for reform. Let's lobby for a national mandate that removes kratom from stores and gas stations across the country. Your signature is more than just ink; it's a line of defence for potential victims unaware of the dangerous path they're stepping onto. Please sign this petition today.
