Thank you all for your support! We wanted to provide you all with an update. The links below are articles describing injuries to people and birds from kite string. These articles are from New York, Toronto, Utah and even California! The first 2 articles follow people who had their throats cut by littered kite string. The second 2 articles are examples of birds being entangled in littered kite string. This is demonsterably a dangerous activity and needs to be banned. We've personally documented littered string in approximately 33% of the trees just in and around the Cricket Fields since April.

As it turns out, the following areas have changed their ordinances to ban these activities in certain areas for the same reason. Resulting in being charged with a misdemeanor if found guilty. Some of these areas include Manhattan Beach, Moutain View, Walnut, Richmond, Ukiah County, Hayward Rec & Parks, Oakhill, Surf Beach, and even Fairfax County VA. Some of these were already implemented, others were implemented as recently as a month ago.

Imelda Padilla was recently elected to CD6. Once she assumes and staffs her office, we will be submitting this information to her to get the LAMC changed to ban kites at Woodley Park and the SBWR as this will be in the best interest and safety of park-goers and the Wildlife at the reserve, and restrict kite flying to a specifically designated area as Lake Balboa ordinance already has set forward.  (Per LAMC 63.44 and laparks.org)

Thank you all for your time and support! Please continue to support this and share this with others!
