Reinforce the global disarmament campaign
The Issue
World War I left 8.5 million soldiers and 10 million civilian casualties, World War II left 55 million dead. In the second half of the 20th century, armed conflicts resulted in 60 million to 100 million deaths. It's important that we input our voices in the global efforts towards the reduction of deaths as a result of armed conflicts. We must give whatever it takes to reduce the number of deaths of innocent persons in armed conflict situations. To achieve a sustainable world, arms must go down and voices must be heard, voices that cry for disarmament all over the world and call for alternative means of conflict resolution that do not result in deaths. In line with the disarmament week, the Nineteen Initiative joins her voice with youths all over the world today to say "arms off, voice on".
