Ban IXL learning platform
The Issue
Every night, I find myself awake until 3:00 am battling with IXL assignments. For many students like me, IXL has become a source of stress, anxiety, and even depression. We are constantly bombarded with tasks that demand perfection before we can move on. The pressure is relentless and the time consumption immense; instead of a tool for learning, it has become an instrument of stress.
Imagine being stuck on a single problem for what feels like forever because you need to get it exactly right. This perfection-driven model leaves no room for mistake-based learning and detracts from genuine understanding and engagement. The threshold for mastery here is unrealistically high and punishes learners, leading them to late nights, heightened stress levels, and diminished mental health. In fact, according to educational experts, effective learning platforms should motivate and inspire students, not dishearten them.
Reports and complaints from both students and parents indicate the same concerns. IXL claims to adapt to individual learning needs, but in reality, it often feels more like an endless loop of frustration. This is why so many kids across the country are left feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Our education system should nurture curiosity, not deter it with punishment-oriented learning.
The goal of this petition is to call on educational institutions and decision-makers to reconsider the use of IXL in schools. We need platforms that not only address our academic needs but also support our mental well-being. We are advocating for alternative platforms that promote a more balanced, encouraging, and positive approach to learning.
By signing this petition, you are joining the voices of countless students and parents who are seeking to foster a healthier, more constructive educational environment. Your signature can pave the way for change and help us redefine what effective and compassionate learning looks like.
Thank you for you for your support!
