The Issue

Growing up in today's digital world, I want nothing more than to protect our young children of the world from the harsh realities that can be found online, especially on platforms designed for children.  Scratch, a worldwide platform intended for kids aged 8 and up, has unfortunately become a place where inappropriate comments are being shared.

I recently came across comments on Scratch that deeply disturbed me, including mentions like "I just got my hormone blockers!" or even statements as extreme as "Charlie Kirk deserved to die!" Such conversations have no place on a platform meant for encouraging creativity and learning among young kids.

The inconsistencies in content moderation are evident as projects about Charlie Kirk get banned, yet discussions about transitioning genders remain. This inconsistent application of rules is not justifiable and puts our children at risk of exposure to ideas that are far too complex and sensitive for their age.

This platform should be a safe space for kids to learn and grow. Allowing these types of comments sets a dangerous precedent and can lead to trauma, something I have personally experienced and wish to shield my siblings from. Moreover, I'm not alone in this feeling—many other users have expressed their frustration and anger over the same issues.

By signing this petition, you endorse the demand for Scratch to enforce stricter content policies that appropriately filter and ban comments that are not suitable for children. Let's safeguard our children’s futures by ensuring they can explore and create in a nurturing and safe environment. Sign this petition to urge Scratch to make the necessary changes and protect our kids.
