Ban I-Ready in all TPS10 schools
The Issue
i-Ready is honestly the worst part of my week, and I feel like it is literally melting my brain. I'm in seventh grade, not kindergarten, but the program forces me to sit there staring at these babyish cartoon characters while a robotic voice reads out every single math question painfully slowly without letting me skip ahead. It feels less like actual learning and more like a screen-time prison. The absolute most infuriating part is how unfair the lesson system is. If I understand the concept but accidentally make a couple of typos or miss a step on a quiz, dropping below a 60%, the program completely wipes out my progress. It punishes you for a simple mistake by trapping you in a loop where you have to restart the entire thing from scratch.
The diagnostic tests are an entirely different level of stress that genuinely makes me hate school. The algorithm is designed to make you fail half the questions, so it randomly throws eighth-grade or high school algebra at me when I’m just trying to get through my regular work. It makes me feel incredibly stupid, and for what? Our teachers don't even look at the specific questions we missed, and it doesn't even count toward our actual classes or report card grades. Instead of listening to a real teacher or doing actual activities with my friends, I'm stuck wasting hours a week staring at a screen, listening to unskippable audio, and doing pointless "breathing exercises" that just end up giving me anxiety.
