A recent study shows that homework is one of the biggest causes of stress for high school students. 83% of teenagers report that the most common cause of stress is school. There’s an increase in high school student suicide rates and depression across the nation. Suicide is the third leading cause of death of youth between the ages of 10-18 coming after unintended injury and homicides. 31.9% of teenagers between the ages of 14-18 have an anxiety disorder.

Homework is a toxic culture that should be put to an end. Students have better things to do outside of school because they can read books, play music, do sports, socialize, etc. The time outside of school is our free time.

Homework mimics an unhealthy work habit of working outside of work hours when asked by your boss. The time outside of school should be respected.
