Ban High-Kill Shelters in Los Angeles

Ban High-Kill Shelters in Los Angeles
The Issue
Every year in Los Angeles, thousands of animals are euthanized simply because of a lack of space and/or resources to keep them around. The majority of these animals are perfectly loving candidates for a home, not dangerous or sick, but they are viewed as a burden. When a dog or cat enters one of these high-kill shelters, their opportunity window for finding a loving home starts ticking day by day.
This petition calls on city officials to finally do something; we need to increase funding for no-kill shelters and expand spay/neuter programs to tackle overcrowding at the root instead of punishing innocent animals for our misallocation of funds. We need to collaborate with foster and rescue groups to create a better outlook for animals in Los Angeles. We have the resources to do better, and it starts with banning high-kill shelters.
City officials cutting corners may be benign in other contexts, but when innocent lives are at stake we need to stand up. You can be part of the change by signing this petition to advocate for long-term solutions that protect animals and support the people who care for them.
