We hope you had a lovely festive period with your loved ones. Apologies for my radio silence these past few weeks. My Mom and I were lucky to spend quality time together over the holidays, a rare chance for us to be together and think about where we want to take this fight.

It’s not always easy living continents apart, especially when our heartstrings are being pulled. Even though I’m back in London, before I left the States we created a special video to show our supporters! My mom and I wanted to express our sincere gratitude, but also talk about why action must happen now to eliminate the use of fatal chemicals in hair dyes and straighteners.

The FDA must listen to the growing concern of the public about the association of breast cancer with hair dye and straightener use. Today we were pleased to see excellent coverage of the issues in the Guardian which outlines why we need clear warnings about the toxicity of hair dyes and straighteners, especially as it pertains to black women's health. If there is one thing you read today – let it be this!

In pop culture we also saw ABC’s hit show, Black-ish, cover the journey to natural hair for the young character, Diane, who explores the complexities and pain that come with certain styles.

We urgently need people to be educated about this issue. The FDA must act now to prevent further fatal exposure to these hair product chemicals.

Please share our video on social media with someone you know by sharing the link to this update, and let’s win this fight. With your help, let’s make 2020 the year #ToxicFreeHair becomes a reality.

Warm regards,

Natasha & Luisa
