As a resident of Manteno, I am deeply concerned for my county's health and safety. As some may know, a Chinese company named Gotion wants to transform the Kmart warehouse on 333 S Spruce St in Manteno into a lithium battery manufacturing facility. The reason for my concern is that the fumes that emit from factories are toxic and can affect your health. Another concern is that fire stations around the area do not have the equipment to extinguish a lithium fire if that were to happen. If a fire broke out, they would have to let it burn which will release toxic fumes all over the surrounding counties. As expressed by multiple Manteno residents and residents from surrounding areas at the village board meeting on Sept. 8, they were worried for their safety and the safety of others. PLEASE STOP THIS!!!!
