The Issue

Stop Gambling Ads — Protect Our Families and Communities

They’re destroying families, pushing people already struggling deeper into debt and hunger. It’s time to treat gambling like the **public health crisis it is, not entertainment.** #StopGamblingAds

Gambling advertisements are everywhere—on TV, online, during sports games, even in schools, airports, and communities. They glamorize betting, making it look harmless and exciting. But the reality on the ground is very different.

Every day, more families are being torn apart by gambling addiction. People are losing their homes, jobs, and relationships. Parents can’t put food on the table because every cent is lost to gambling. **We see families in our communities who go without food for days, while the gambling industry continues to profit billions.** The constant flood of gambling ads is feeding a national crisis and crippling families who are already struggling to survive.

This is no longer about personal choice. It’s a **public health issue**, just like smoking and alcohol once were before strict advertising laws came into place. Research shows a direct link between gambling ads and addiction—and it’s time South Africa takes action.

We’re calling on policymakers to **ban or heavily restrict gambling advertising across all platforms**: TV, radio, social media, sports, schools, communities, and airports. Our goal is to gather **10,000 signatures** and take this petition to government leaders so they can see how urgently our country needs change.

Let’s stand together to protect our families, our youth, and our future.

**Sign the petition. Raise your voice. Help stop the harm.**

Act now, and let your voice be heard. Please sign our petition today.
