ATTENTION  :      THE MAYOR and MUNICIPAL MANAGER 

Fireworks can be a source of celebration for many but for animals it is a nightmarish ordeal filled with terror and distress .On the Lower South Coast of KZN  Fireworks is causing significant harm to our local wildlife and domestic animals .Dogs ,cats,birds ,monkeys and other animals are often left traumatized, injured or even dead as a result of the loud explosions and bright flashes that accompany Fireworks and displays .

According to the South African Veterinary Association, the animal shelters see a spike in recieving lost pets ,many of them in states of severe distress .

Wildlife is also impacted as birds abandon their nests  in fear .Other wildlife try run for their lives often resulting in their deaths . 

The debris left behind from Fireworks can be ingested by animals. .Additionally the toxic chemicals used in Fireworks contribute to environmental pollution, harming our ecosystems which are crucial for biodiversity. 

It's also a severe threat of starting Wildfires and  causing serious injury to Humans and the loss of their homes .

Our Local SPCA struggles to cope with the huge influx of animals as do our few local vets .

Elderly people are also traumatized. Many are suffering already due to severe ill health .

The community in general cannot afford Emergency medical care for themselves or their Animals .

We request that in serving the community a decision will be made to Ban both Fireworks and the Sale of it with immediate effect if possible please .
