As someone who has witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by fireworks, I want to emphasize the urgent need for a complete ban of these explosives. Every festival season, our community is beset by the heartrending sight of scared animals who've lost their way home due to the terrifying noise. Our local SPCA's are overwhelmed dealing with these lost pets - some of whom don't even make it as they injure themselves in their fear-induced frenzy and die before they can be rescued.

Additionally, the impact of fireworks extends beyond our pets. Wild animals, as well as insects and fish, also suffer considerably. Humans are not spared either, with noise pollution causing immense distress to both adults and children alike. Our environment also bares the brunt of this harmful practice, as the pollution generated by fireworks contributes to degradation of our ecosystems.

It's important to note that individuals are currently allowed to purchase and set off fireworks despite the fact that regulations require a license from several authorities, and the presence of a Pyrotechnician and SA Police Services Explosives Expert during the display. This blatant disregard for the law does nothing but harm to our community and environment.

Taking the above into consideration, it is time we came together to uphold our shared responsibility to our environment and fellow creatures. We must urge our authorities to implement a complete ban on fireworks in our country, to protect our communities, our wildlife, our environment.
