As the owners of two small dogs, we have experienced first-hand the astronomical costs associated with veterinary care. We are not alone in this struggle; countless pet owners across the country are burdened by these excessive charges for treatment, medication, and particularly after-hours services. The financial strain is immense and often forces us to make difficult decisions about our pets' health.

According to a recent report, vet visits can cost up to £650 on average, with emergency visits potentially exceeding £1,200.  This is an exorbitant amount for most households. Furthermore, a recent study found that after-hour service fees can be up to three times higher than regular hours. This price hike puts undue stress on pet owners who find themselves in emergency situations outside of normal business hours.

We call upon our government to investigate these extortionate charges made by vets for treatments and drugs. It's time we address this issue head-on and work towards a solution that ensures fair pricing without compromising the quality of care our pets receive.
