Ban excessively bright LED car lights

Ban excessively bright LED car lights
The Issue
My vision has deteriorated since the introduction of extremely bright LED lights on cars. What once was a comfortable drive home has now turned into a blinding experience where I find myself squinting or looking away. These LED lights, while innovative, are wreaking havoc not only on my eyesight but on countless others who share the roads every day.
LED lights, especially those with high lumen outputs, can be incredibly harsh on the human eye. Recent studies suggest that prolonged exposure to bright lights, like those emitted by such LEDs, can lead to serious eye strain and in some cases, might contribute to longer-term vision problems. For nighttime drivers, the glare from these LEDs can cause temporary blindness, leading to dangerous situations on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has noted the increased complaints about LED headlights in recent years, showing this is not an isolated issue.
There is a pressing need to address this concern for the safety and well-being of all drivers. A realistic goal would be to regulate the brightness levels of LED lights used in automobiles to ensure they are within a safe range for eye health. An alternative would be to encourage the adoption of adaptive headlight systems, which adjust their illumination to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
Let us urge our automotive regulatory authorities and manufacturers to prioritize road safety over aesthetic or technical advancements that compromise driver comfort and safety. Sign this petition to demand changes in vehicle lighting standards to protect our eyes and ensure safer roads for everyone.
