Hello, my name is Casimir, i’m an owner of a not so small discord art server. Recently, discord has introduced DomoAI into their platform, which is a generative AI meant for editing and creating images. I don’t think I need to explain how much this violates artists, not only those in my server, but all of them who use discord.

Discord is (or rather now - was) a platform for artists besides others to connect, inspire, and share their art. However with the introduction of this new AI most of us fear this will no longer be possible, as AI is known for art theft - specifically training from artworks shared online, whose creators did not consent to using their art for this, and whom weren’t given credit for the training. 

While the collaboration of Discord and DomoAI is at least for now supposed to be safe for artists, we are all aware of how easy it is to change the terms of service, and we as artists can’t allow that to happen on discord, as our safe spaces would be broken beyond repair. This collaboration’s terms of service for now state that no artwork will be used without permission and it won’t be trained on it, however, as i said, this would be easy to change anytime, and i cannot allow that.

As an artist myself i am all against ai in any form, especially generative image ai. Its ways of training are a direct violation of the copyright law. It should never have been introduced into a platform like discord, which is known for being a space for artists to share their works in.

It’s time to make a change. I started this petition in order to get rid of the DomoAI and Discord collaboration, as me and all other artists do not wish to be in a constant danger of having their art stolen. Because while the terms of service are somehow safe now, they may change, and even if not, people who are not against AI can feed our art into it.
