The Issue

Demand the NHL Implement a Domestic Violence Policy Now

We are calling on the National Hockey League (NHL) to take immediate and concrete action to address domestic violence within its organization.

Despite numerous high-profile incidents, the NHL remains the only major professional sports league without a clear, enforceable domestic violence policy. This lack of accountability allows players who have committed abuse to continue representing teams without consequence, sending a dangerous message to fans, survivors, and the broader community: that violence off the ice is tolerated as long as performance on the ice continues.

Domestic violence affects over 10 million people in the U.S. each year. No institution, including professional sports, should be exempt from confronting this reality.

We are demanding that the NHL:

Implement a formal domestic violence policy with clear standards, consequences, and investigative procedures.
Suspend players under credible investigation and ban those convicted until they complete accountability measures.
Provide mandatory education and prevention training for all players, coaches, and staff.
Partner with domestic violence experts and survivor advocates to build a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach.
We are not asking for perfection—we are demanding progress. It’s time for the NHL to stand on the right side of history and show that it values integrity and accountability as much as talent and competition.

Sign your name and let the NHL know: There is no place for domestic violence in hockey.
