As do many other parents, I take my son to the playing field in Stobhill Manor, west of the roundabout next to the A192 in Morpeth for football practice most weekends. 
Many people, including and more importantly,  children and local sports teams use this space for exercise, recreation, and training. It is disheartening to see such a valuable community area marred by constant dog fouling. Irresponsible pet owners are turning this field into a hazard, jeopardising the safety and hygiene of its users.

This is an ever-increasing issue I have found living in our town and It seems wherever I walk in Morpeth these days, there is dog mess on the pavement, streets and more infuriating, children's playing areas, parks and sports fields. There are so many dog owners in Morpeth, it's very hard to miss them when walking around the town however, its nice that our town is welcoming to visitors which it should be. But in the 12 years living in this area, I have seen no tangible effort to do something about dog fouling and the issues I highlight here.

One major area I have discovered to be really bad is the playing field to the left of the roundabout mentioned above. 

Every single time we have been there, I have seen dog muck on the grass. Every time we are there, there is a constant steady stream of dog walkers going around or across that field, coming and going from the surrounding housing estates. I have witnessed many dogs doing their business and the owners , rightfully so, doing their duty as a responsible dog owner and picking up the mess, however as I say, every time we go onto the grass we will see at least two to five (on a small section of the field, primarily between the two goal posts) piles of dog mess, so there are those owners who are too lazy and ignorant to clean up.
Just On Saturday (18th of Oct) I was on there with my son playing football and we reported 5 lots of dog poo.

It's time to put a stop to it! 

Dog waste left behind not only presents an unpleasant nuisance but also poses a significant health risk, particularly to children who frequently play here. According to the UK National Health Service, diseases such as toxocariasis can be contracted from contact with dog faeces. This negligence can lead to serious infections and even blindness.

We understand that many dog owners are responsible and committed to maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces. However, the ongoing issue of un-picked up dog muck makes it clear that stronger measures are needed.
We propose a complete ban on dogs in this playing field area to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all its users.

The council tax has quadrupled since 2013 in my area and it's so frustrating when things just do not seem to be getting dealt with or improved - the time has to be now!

This decision would not only protect human health but also signal to dog owners the importance of accountability. If you care about the well-being of our children and wish to maintain clean and safe communal spaces, please join me in urging the local authorities to implement this ban.
