The issue

Gizmo can be distracting for students because it combines studying with features that can take their attention away from actually learning. Although the app is designed to help students study, features such as points, streaks and rewards can make students more focused on earning achievements than understanding the information. Students may also become distracted by notifications or spend too much time switching between different quizzes and flashcards. Another problem is that students can become overly dependent on technology, making it harder for them to concentrate on traditional schoolwork without using an app. Instead of spending time reading, writing notes and thinking deeply about a topic, students might rely on quickly answering questions and memorising information. This can create a false sense of achievement because getting answers correct does not always mean that a student fully understands the subject. Furthermore, using a device to study can make it tempting to open social media, games or other apps, which can interrupt concentration and waste valuable study time. Overall, while Gizmo can be useful for learning, its digital features and reward systems can become distracting and prevent students from developing strong study habits.
