Declawing cats isn't just a minor procedure it causes lifelong pain and suffering for our beloved felines. Senate Bill 252 to ban it has been approved but not yet passed at the legislative level and I’ve seen firsthand the distress it brings, not just physically but emotionally as well. Cats often lose their self confidence and become fearful or feel threatened due to this debilitating procedure. 

Declawing is the same as amputating a human's fingers at the last knuckle, often leading to chronic pain, behavioral changes, and a high incidence of arthritis as they age. These beautiful  creatures created by God deserve more than a life filled with agony for the sake of human convenience or household aesthetics.

According to the Humane Society, declawing is already banned in many countries, including the UK, Australia, and parts of the United States. Why? Because it's viewed as an inhumane and unnecessary practice. It's time we join this compassionate movement globally, ensuring all cats and kittens are protected.

Instead of declawing, there are several humane alternatives that can protect both our pets and our furniture. Regular nail trimming, providing appropriate scratching posts, and using soft nail caps are effective solutions that keep our cats happy and our homes intact.

We owe it to our cats to treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. After all, they are more than just pets, they're family. Join me in urging legislators to take action against this cruel practice and vote yes on Senate Bill 252.
