This petition was created by my son, Joshua, age 10.

I recently read a fictional book that depicted the harrowing experience of a dog  that was about to go through the  debarking procedure however was saved. The story, though fictional, was based on real-life practices and it deeply moved me. the book is called teddy and is part of the puppy place books

Debarking or devocalization is an invasive surgical procedure performed on dogs and other animals to reduce the volume of their vocalizations. This process involves cutting or removing tissue from an animal's vocal cords, often leading to significant pain and potential health complications for the animal involved.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), while they do not recommend these procedures, they are still legal in many parts of the world. Furthermore, studies have shown that such procedures can lead to increased risks of respiratory issues and do not address underlying behavioral problems in animals (source: AVMA).

This petition aims at making debarking illegal worldwide as it is a cruel practice that causes unnecessary suffering for our beloved pets. Animals should not be subjected to painful procedures simply because their natural behaviors are deemed inconvenient by some humans and we can put in a little more effort to train them to calm their barking. if we do not move soon it may be too late
