The Issue

Our community in Freestone County is facing a serious threat. Data centers, including those housing AI technologies, are looking to establish plants in our peaceful county. These facilities are notorious for generating various types of pollution: water, noise, sound, and light pollution that disrupt the natural harmony of our environment. But these aren't the only repercussions.

As a community, we are concerned about our electricity bills. Data centers are heavy users of power, which, ultimately, will draw on our resources and increase our expenses. Our community deserves better – we need clean water, fresh food, and a thriving ecosystem, not industrial monstrosities that crowd our landscape and deplete our resources.

Freestone County should not become a dumping ground for data centers. The natural beauty of our home and the quality of life for our residents is at stake. Let's not forget the impact this could also have on our health due to pollution and increased traffic.

We urge the local authorities to prioritize the well-being of our citizens and our environment over the economic interests of these large corporations. Let us stand united in our commitment to the health and sustainability of our home.

A public hearing will take place on June 17, 2026, at 9 am at the Freestone County Courthouse. We encourage you to attend and make a physical stance. Show the council how serious we are about banning AI and data center plants in our area.

Please sign this petition to voice your opposition to the establishment of these data centers and protect our community's future.
