Ban catapults to protect wildlife and property
The Issue
Seeing the local wildlife in pain due to the use of catapults is heart-wrenching. Ducks and pigeons, innocent and harmless, lying injured, struggling and eventually dying, is a devastating sight that no one should have to witness. I've witnessed this cruelty firsthand, and it leaves an indelible mark on anyone who sees it. These animals do not deserve to suffer due to recreational mischief. It's not just the wildlife that suffers; catapults also pose a significant risk to property and could cause serious injury to people. It is time for a change.
In our area, the surging use of catapults has become a pressing concern. Statistically, many regions have reported increases in animal injuries and property damage directly linked to catapult misuse. Local authorities must recognize the dangerous implications behind what might seem a harmless activity. Just like air rifles, catapults can be, and often are, used as lethal weapons leading to unnecessary suffering and chaos.
Our natural environment is a treasure, and the creatures inhabiting it are a vital part of this ecosystem—as stewards of the Earth, it's our duty to protect them. Wildlife should not have to fear injury or death because of our actions. There are ample recreational activities that do not endanger animals or put property at risk. This is why we need regulation. Banning or at least licensing the use of catapults could significantly reduce this ongoing issue.
Let's urge the local council to take action and impose a ban or licensing on catapults to stop any more sinister consequences in our area. It’s time we choose compassion and responsibility over chaos. Please sign this petition to ensure a safer and more caring community for both our wildlife and our residents.
