Rabbits are among the most frequently abandoned pets, often due to impulse purchases from pet stores. Bunnies are being Exploited and Abused by Breeders who overbreed them continuously at which point they are culled inhumanely. Stores across the U.S. often source their rabbits from breeders who prioritize profit over animal welfare, leading to poor living conditions and health issues. According to the Humane Society of the United States, thousands of rabbits suffer each year because of these practices. 

They are kept in Deplorable conditions, raised and confined in wire bottom cages, with no movement or daily enrichment. Bunnies don’t have any protection by laws, so they are crammed on top of each other, without proper care, and diseases run rampant. They are psychologically and physically affected throughout their entire lives. Bunnies cruelly sold for meat are bred to be larger and more docile so they are less resistant during butcher. They are culled at about 3 months and let out blood curdling screams as they witness other bunnies being murdered as they are incredibly aware of their surroundings. 1.2 Billion Rabbits are slaughtered every year.

Breeders sell their offspring to pet stores who do not inform the public that Bunnies are a 10 Year Commitment and Require a Proper Diet and Care. Due to this misinformation, hundreds of cases are reported by rescue organizations across the U.S. on a daily basis, where Bunnies are Abandoned and Dumped in the Streets. They suffer slow, agonizing deaths as they are subject to Predator Attacks, being hit by cars, severe dehydration, and stress. This is an Ongoing Abuse Cycle for Bunnies largely due to Breeders and easy access in pet stores.

We must take a stand against this unnecessary cruelty by Banning Bunny breeding for pet stores and prohibiting sales in these establishments. This will encourage adoption from shelters and rescues, where many abandoned rabbits end up.
